Considering Mise-en-scene

Now that I have considered casting&location, I need to begin to consider mise-en-scene, such as any props I will need, and clothing and make-up that my casting may wear. To fit the criteria of pop forThe Script, my casting will need to be wearing fashionable clothing, and the female in the video may be wearing some light make-up.
The girl could be wearing a fashionable top, which either jeans, leggings or perhaps a skirt, with her hair down, which could be straight in some shots, and curly in others, with make-up likeeye liner, mascara and lip gloss. She could also be wearing jewelry such as a necklace and a bracelet.
In my video, I have thought about using some props to match the lyrics. Props that I have considered using are a clock, a suitcase, photographs and a photo frame holding a picture of the couple, and perhaps a camera which I can use to show the couple taking the pictures which I show in my video.

Considering Locations

I've started to thinkof possible locations that I could use in my music video. I have decided to use a teenagers bedroom for when they boy is lip syncing, andI plan to usea number of different location ina house, and a garden, and some scenes in a park.
Some scenes need to be shot inside to match some ofthe lyrics in the song, and some areas of the song wouldwork well being shot outside.

Considering Casting

I have began to think about who I want to have as casting in my music video, and have come to the conclusion that I will need 3 main characters, and perhaps a few people to star in the background (e.g. having a conversation).

The main boy I plan to have is:

Liam Copeland playing the main male role.

Stephanie Smith playing the female main role.

I have chosen Liam Copeland and Stephanie Smith to play my main roles, because they are in a relationship, and I have thought that having an actual couple to play the roles would be easier and convenient for me to do. Being a couple, I can use some of their photographs in the video in the beginning and end scenes.

The other male role I have chosen to cast is Matthew Earl. He will play the female role's new boyfriend in the music video.

I will also have some other people in the background, who play the couples friends, and these people will be:
  • Chelsea Wilkie
  • Leanne Mok
  • Harriet Nash
  • Sunil Singh

Animatic Storyboard

I've completed the Animatic storyboard for 'Breakeven' by The Script, and converted it into a Quicktime movie. The storyboards helped me to generate more ideas for my music video. Instead of having two seperate shots in one part of the song, I have decided to put the two different scenes into the same shot (split-screen) to make it more effective.

I have been having trouble uploading it onto my blog, but plan to upload it soon.

Audience Feedback For Treatment

To start with, I told 4 people about my treatment, and what I plan to do for the music video, for the song ‘Breakeven’ by The Script. I then wrote down my audiences opinions, ready to put into a PowerPoint about the feedback that I received.

Pyschographic And Demographic Profiling

Target Audience

The Script has a relatively popular fan base, and their music has featured in television shows such as 90210, Ghost Whisperer, The Hills, Waterloo Road, Eastenders and The Vampire Diaries. I think that the music has a general target audience of 15 to 25 year olds. As their music has featured in such televison programmes, this backs up my idea of the general target audience. However, because they have such a wide variety of audience with the genre of 'Pop Rock' it could target anyone in this age range, depending on the individuals taste in music. This will help me to get some audience feedback on my band, as I can ask anyone in the 15 to 25 age range.

It would be difficult to determine some aspects of pyschographics and demographics as the band has a wide variety of target audience. However, I would expect the audience to fit into the typical pop rock/music target audience and would expect them to be fashionable, enjoy casual parties, perhaps drink alcohol and maybe smoke.
